Your ‘Me Time’ Challenge

‘LIVE’ Pause & Reset group sessions: because being in your own home creates comfort through familiarity and decreases the stress of trying to get to a class where you might feel self-conscious!

The Pause & Reset sessions are:

  • 3 Live Webinars so we can interact and learn more from each other as well as help you commit to making time just for you!
  • You will log onto the live webinar for 1 hour each week (3 weeks) from your own home as this gives you flexibility (no rushed drive to your class)!
  • Dates/Times: Sundays 8pm-9pm (AEDT) on: 17th, 24th, 31st January

Each week, the Pause & Reset session includes:

  • A guided meditation based on what you have told me because a meditation that incorporates your needs will be more personal (go and do the survey now!)
  • An integration exercise to help deepen your meditation experience, as you are relaxed, focused and more creative after meditation.
  • Opportunity for discussion so you can ask questions and share your experience. This creates a sense of community as you are going through this experience with others just like you!
  • Take home study will be provided each week to keep you motivated & deepen your practice

Pause & Reset BONUS MATERIAL

  • You will receive the transcripts and audio recordings of all 3 sessions so you can practice whenever you want to as well as review what was covered each week
  • The 3 guided meditations from the sessions as stand alone audio recordings for your personal use because often you will just want to hit the play button, lie down and listen, then get up feeling amazing!
  • A copy of the integration exercises used in each session as well as additional integration exercises to enhance your meditation sessions. You might prefer one exercise to another or want to mix it up on different days.
  • Plus two new guided meditations (audio recordings) to add variety to your meditation practice and keep you motivated!

Effortless Meditation: lie down | an introduction to yoga nidra

Meditation is easier when you lie down. (Tweet that!)

I was SO chronically sleep deprived the neurologist thought that I had had a stroke. I have a background in nursing so that scared the s**t out of me!

Swami Satyananda Saraswati wasn’t a sleep-deprived mom but he gave us something to help us cope with sleep deprivation. And help us recover.

Yoga nidra.

 STOP! Yoga what?!

Don’t be put off by the woo-woo sounding name!

Wouldn’t you love a lie down right now?

Then get up after 10-20 minutes feeling like you have had a mega-nap?!

That’s yoga nidra.

Seriously, you can’t do it wrong. You lie down. You listen to a recording. You get up. And you feel AMAZING.

That’s yoga nidra.

When you listen to yoga nidra (a specific type of guided meditation) your brain is super relaxed. Your brain is SO relaxed that your EEG (the test that shows electrical activity in your brain) shows that you are in a similar state to being asleep (Nilsson, 2013). NICE!

That is AMAZING news for anyone that is sleep deprived, especially moms!

Yoga nidra research from the Kennedy Institute, Copenhagen, shows that your brain is also functioning at a high level of concentration that is completely effortless (Nilsson, 2013).

High level of concentration? Completely effortless? This is EPIC news!

My stroke scare got me serious about tackling chronic sleep deprivation. I had maxed out. Two years of my daughter breastfeeding every two hours overnight.

Yoga nidra became my top recovery tool.

I use Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra to help me catch up on sleep. I can’t fit in an extra 3 hours sleep. So I lie down and listen to 20 minutes of Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra. It’s pretty much the same thing!

I’m hooked on Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra.

So when I heard Jennifer Reis would be coming to Australia to teach her Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra training, I was there. And now I can call myself a Divine Sleep Guide. Oooooo!

Inflexible Yoga Teacher

I would love to be posting a photo of me doing some spectacularly flexible yoga pose at Machu Picchu but I was too busy juggling a 20 month old girl that was in clambering mode, her potty and realising waaaaaaay too late that I had missed my own toilet opportunity (and yes I considered using the potty!). Plus, I can’t touch my toes so you won’t see me in bendy poses. And yes, I’m a yoga teacher!

I wanted to remind you today that yoga isn’t being about being flexible. It really isn’t. Just as practicing meditation isn’t about sitting lotus style for hours. Don’t let the ‘images’ of yoga and meditation be a reason to avoid a yoga or meditation class. I love what Cyndi Lee says about yoga: “Yoga is not about touching your toes. It’s about unlocking your ideas about what you want, where you think you can go, and how you will achieve when you get there.” Nice.

Meditation & Yoga For REAL People

As nice as it would be to have a studio you could go to to practice yoga or meditation anytime you wanted to, the reality for most of us is that this isn’t possible. But that shouldn’t be a barrier. This was my yoga & meditation ‘space’ for a month while we were staying with family in Peru. And you know what? It didn’t change how I felt during and after my practice. Because it’s not about the external stuff. It really isn’t. Just like yoga isn’t about touching your toes and being the most flexible person in the room. Meditation isn’t about sitting cross-legged in a remote cave for hours and hours. I often meditate lying down listening to a recording. So why not lie down on the messy lounge-room floor and start by listening to this beautiful free recording. I’d love to hear where and how you meditate or practice yoga! New To Meditation?

Maybe you go to a yoga class at the gym every now and then and are curious about meditation. Or maybe you have heard all the hype about mindfulness. Whatever has sparked your interest, you might feel a bit overwhelmed with all the meditation ‘options’, the idea that you need heaps of time, as well as be a bit put off by all the people sitting like a pretzel to meditate.

I’m not a pretzel. I’m a yoga teacher and I can’t touch my toes. Mwahahahah! Really. So I lie down to meditate 🙂 I have a free guided meditation (10 mins) you can try now (it goes to your inbox) and all you have to do is lie down and listen. You can’t do this wrong! And if you fall asleep, it’s all good. Your body clearly needed a rest and you’ll still get the benefits of the meditation practice.

If you are thinking about meditation but don’t know where to start, here are a few quick questions for you:

What amount of time can you realistically put aside to practice meditation? E.g. 5-10 minutes a day, 10 minutes every few days, more?

What do you need to help you practice? E.g. short easy audio recordings (5-10minutes), interactive support and motivation etc.

What health issues do you have at the moment? E.g. back pain, sleep deprived, anxious (meditation can help with a lot of health issues but also the type of meditation you do can differ depending on your health status. I simply can’t sit for very long – sore back, weak core – so I practice my meditation lying down).
